Chinese manufaturer Lenovo could release a new breed of tablets which we'd call super tablets by the end of the year with some ground breaking features.

According to Engadget, the new tablet, which has yet to be named, could come with an Nvidia Tegra 3 penta core system on chip, one which is clocked at 1.6GHz, nearly 25 per cent faster than on the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime (ed : Picture courtesy of Engadget).

Alongside the SoC would be 2GB DDR3 memory, four times the amount on the iPad 2, a USB socket, a rear facing camera, a special fusion skin body and a fingerprint scanner that doubles as an optical joystick.

What's more the anonymous source that spilled the beans also says that the tablet will be thinner than the existing IdeaPad K1. Whether it will actually be called an Ideapad or a ThinkPad tablet remains to be seen as well.

It is very likely that the same hardware will be recycled (and improved) to host the new Windows 8 for ARM operating system that is expected to be launched in the second half of the year.

Rival hardware manufacturer HTC is also said to be launching a tablet based on the Nvidia Tegra 3 SoC. As it stands though, Asus has been the only one to announce and launch one, the Eee Transformer Prime.
